The Houston International Quilt Festival 2019

The Winchester Quilt Block Trail was honored to be part of the 2019 International Quilt Festival in Houston on October 30-Nov3.  We were located with the other non-profit organizations and it was our goal to spread the word about barn quilts!

Wednesday was set up day.  Sherwood Gersch and Tom Atkins hauled the barn to Houston in the rain.  They installed the barn quickly and our booth was soon set up and ready to go.  Wednesday evening was preview night for all the people that took advantage of all the wonderful classes the show offers.

Nicolette and Denby Morrison acted as our hosts for the 5 days and we stayed in their lovely home.  10am found us at our booth every day.  We talked to people from all over the world--Iceland, Australia, Canada, Philippines, Germany, the Netherlands--drawn to this show by the love of quilting.

We passed out brochures and information on classes and sold our blocks.  We also got to wander the aisles of the displayed quilts and hundreds of vendors.  The quilt displays were amazing, such creativity is so impressive.

Margaret, Kathy and Karen each have a wonderful gift of teaching with encouragement and patience. You will have a beautiful quilt block at the end of your class and likely a new friendship or two.

My daughter and I have attended two barn quilt classes. My daughter (a 30-something) has really gotten into the planning and painting.
The ladies who guide you in the class are wonderful! So supportive, and they help make it a fun experience!
I highly recommend taking a class!

I took a class after learning about the trail during the Houston International Quilt Show. I have not had that much fun creating something in a very long time! While I can sew, I definitely cannot paint... The instructions and materials provided during the class enabled me to create a beautiful custom quilt block that I proudly hang in my sewing studio.

Thank you Winchester Quilt Trail for spreading the love of sewing through this Quilt Block Trail!
